- 1). Turn over the Blackberry. Press the battery cover release button and slide off the cover. The battery cover release button located near the bottom of the smartphone.
- 2). Remove the battery from the Blackberry by gripping an edge with a fingernail and lifting upward.
- 3). Slide the SIM card holder toward its hinges to unlock it. Open the SIM card holder.
- 4). Remove the SIM card from its packaging, if necessary. This usually involves snapping the SIM card from a credit card sized piece of plastic.
- 5). Place the SIM card in the holder so the metal contacts line up with the chip on the SIM card. The cut-off corner of the SIM card will face toward the top of your Blackberry.
- 6). Close and lock the SIM card holder by sliding it away from its hinges.
- 7). Re-insert the battery so the metal patches line up with the contacts in the Blackberry.
- 8). Slide the battery cover back onto the Blackberry. It will click into place.
