Add The Cirque du Soleil Immortal World Tour To Your Stay In Beijing

The Cirque du Soleil Immortal World Tour combines the artistry of the late pop icon with the distinctive and highly stylized Cirque du Soleil, in an extravaganza of dance, acrobatics, sound and fantastic visuals. The show is on at the MasterCard Center in Beijing from August 9 to 11, 2013.

Presented in a rock concert format, the Cirque du Soleil Immortal World Tour aims to appeal to both lifelong fans of Jackson as well as those who might be experiencing his creativity for the first time, as it seeks to capture the ‘essence, soul and inspiration of the King of Pop'. The driving force behind the show is Jackson's inspirational music and lyrics, brought to life in a fusion of visuals, dance and fantasy.

The Cirque du Soleil website describes the Immortal World Tour as taking place ‘in a fantastical realm where we discover Michael's inspiration and the wellspring of his creativity. The secrets of Michael's inner world are unlocked – his love of music and dance, fairy tale and magic, and the fragile beauty of nature.'

The Cirque du Soleil Immortal World Tour kicked off in Montreal, Canada and has now made its way to China. After Beijing, it opens in Shanghai on August 16 and in Hong Kong on August 22 before heading to Australia for performances in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide between September 18 and October 15. In Auckland, New Zealand the show opens on October 30.

For those in Asia who want to see the Cirque du Soleil Immortal World Tour, a stay in Beijing is a good option to catch a performance before the production heads on to Australia. The Chinese capital is served by direct flights from numerous points around Asia, and accommodation in the city is varied – hotels in Beijing range from stylish boutique hotelsto mid-range properties and five star establishments. Whether choosing to stay in Sanlitun, Shijingshan, Fangshan or another district, or the CBD area, there are hotels to suit all tastes and budget.

Since its premier, the show has performed to more than 1.7 million people in 75 cities and grossed over US$165 million. It has received a number of awards, including being named by Billboard the #1 Touring Show for the first six months of 2012.

After breaking a company record for highest attendance at a single performance, with 17,397 tickets purchased for an October performance at Parken Statium in Copenhagen, the show received the Creative Content Award at the 9th annual Billboard Touring Awards in November 2012 in New York City. A total attendance of 78,777 for its eight night season in London also saw it enjoy a stint at the top of the Hot Tours list.

The Cirque du Soleil Immortal World Tour was written and directed by renowned concert director Jamie King, who has worked with an array of superstars including Madonna, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, Avril Lavigne, George Michael, Elton John, Diana Ross and Asian superstar Rain.

King is now involved in a second project between Cirque du Soleil and The Estate of Michael Jackson, as he directs the Michael Jackson ONE show at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Taking residency at the resort, the show uses cutting-edge technology in a theatrical experience that Cirque du Soleil president and chief executive officer Daniel Lamarre described as "very distinctive" from the show currently touring the world.
