How to Succeed in the Independent Film Making Business

New film about to be released which will have a powerful effect to lower the divorce rate.
The film was produced by a 29 year old producer who got his start in film making, in Hollywood 8 years ago, by delivering "green paint" to movie sets.
He has paid his dues, and has now worked on over 50 films in the entertainment industry.
He is currently working on the new television series called "Swingtown" in Hollywood, California.
The writer/director is Shellie Ryan.
To succeed in the film business, is not much different then to succeed in any business.
First you have to have a passion and love for the film industry, if your going to work in it.
Far to often "wanabees" producers and directors" think they do not have to pay their dues and that it is easy.
Nothing could be farther from the truth.
Second, along with the passion for the film industry, one needs to have persistence and consistency in pursuit of your dream.
And third, and obvious if your going to succeed in anything in Life, is to never, never, give up on your dreams and goals..
This new film producer, was not an overnight success by any stretch of the imagination.
He started out delivering green paint to movie sets, ie, on the very bottom of the business.
Hollywood, and the film business is unique, its about contacts and who you know, along with your reputation on the sets.
Most independent film producers work very long hours some 16 plus hours per day, 6 days per week, often for 6-8 weeks or more.
So if long hours bother you stay completely away from film making, because it is a fact that you will work long hours.
Gradually, you move up in Hollywood, you might become a 3rd and 4th assistant director, and then as you get more experience, finally a first assistant director if your patient enough.
The process can take several years, it took Lance, about 8 years, from his initial footprint in Hollywood, to go from delivering "green paint", to producing his first movie..
So bottom line if you want to really succeed in the movie business, and eventually direct or produce your own independent film, head out to Hollywood and take that first job.
It is your passion, and determination, ie, never, never give up on your dreams and goals, that will get you there.
The film is a true depiction of the unconscious parental alienation occurs in families distressed by divorce..
The movie depicts just how real a child's fears are.
With divorce rates approaching 50% versus only 25% in the sixties, it should have a mass audience appeal, due to the content.
