- 1). Set 1-inch rockwool cubes upright in a clean tray and add 1/2 inch of water. Soak the rockwool for two hours and pour off remaining water.
- 2). Drop one or two seeds into the hole on top of the rockwool. Cover the tray with plastic wrap to hold in moisture and heat. Set the tray on top of a refrigerator or warm area with indirect light.
- 3). Check the tray each day and mist the cubes to keep them moist, if needed. Avoid creating standing water in the tray.
- 4). Watch the rockwool for seed sprouts and move any cubes to an uncovered tray in a sunny are once the sprouts pop through the top. Mist the cubes one or two times a day to keep them moist in the warmer area.
- 5). Mist a one-quarter strength hydroponics nutrients solution on the seedlings once they are 1-inch tall to provide food for growth. Apply the nutrients once a week until the plants are about 3 inches tall and ready for transplanting.
- 6). Transplant the 3 --to 4-inch tall seedlings into the drip hydroponics system by sticking the small rockwool cubes into larger cubes already set in the system. Open the center of the larger cube and carefully place the 1-inch cube inside.
