If your prom date is someone you're in love with, or perhaps someone you could see yourself falling in love with very soon, then you might want to make your prom experience totally romantic. Here's how to have a memorable, drama-free prom night with plenty of smooching involved.

Ask your date in a romantic way

A romantic prom proposal will set the tone for your entire prom experience. Romantic gestures are often the most thoughtful ones.

They don't have to be big or over-the-top, and they don't have to be in front of the whole school. They should be personal and cater to the person you're asking. Consider writing a romantic letter. Or a song. Or planning a romantic date. Here are some more romantic and creative ways to ask your date. 

Get the perfect prom flowers

Corsages and boutonnieres are a tradition among prom-goers, and you'll want to get this detail exactly right. Ask your date what kind of flowers they like, and what colors will match their dress or tux. Order it ahead of time from your town florist to make sure you get prom flowers that are perfect and personal. Your date will be impressed that you put so much thought into it.

Match your outfit to theirs

Color-coordinating your dress and tux won't just make for great prom photos. It'll show that you care about your date and that you planned your special night with them in mind. If your date's dress is pink, go for a vest or cummerbund that will complement that color.

Take lots of photos and have them framed afterward

It's so easy to snap photos on your phone all night. Those photos definitely have their place in your world, but make sure you get a couple nice shots of just the two of you with a quality camera. You might even want to arrange to have the photos taken in a special location before the dance so the backdrop will be beautiful- a town park, a special spot in the yard, or a place in town that means something to you both (maybe it's where you had your first date!) Consider getting a photo package from the photographer at the dance. Afterwards, have a few of the nicer shots framed or put them into an album to give to your date.

Request a song and dedicate it

Ask the DJ to play a song that's special to both of you. Maybe it's her favorite song, or maybe it's your song. You could even have the DJ get on the mic and make a special dedication to your date.

Save every slow dance for your date

You asked your date to the dance for a reason- you wanted to spend time with them. It's okay to hang out with your friends, dance in a circle, and take pictures with your friends, too. But when a slow jam starts over the speakers, make your way back to your date and take their hand. It's special moments like these that will make your prom romantic and memorable.

Don't flirt with other guys and girls

You probably have guy and girl friends, and it's totally okay to hang out with them before, during and after the dance. But, keep it friendly and not flirty. It's not cool to invite someone to the dance and spend the whole night hitting on someone else. Pay special attention to your date, make them feel good, and try these flirting tips on them.

Have special plans afterward

Planning something after prom will let your date know that you were thinking about the big picture. You could plan to take them to a party, to the movies, a diner, or on a romantic walk. Make it personal and pay attention to details
