Child abduction is the abduction or kidnapping of a child by an older person.
Generally this happens for one of two reasons.
Either a stranger is taking a child for criminal purposes or the most common reason; one of the parents is retaining the child.
The most common of the two usually occurs when parents separate or start to go through a divorce.
A parent may remove a child hoping for leverage over the other in any number of ways.
Hoping to have an advantage in an expected child-custody case.
In some cases it can be something as simple as fear of losing that child.
The least common of the two types involves someone seeking a ransom.
Yes, some folks think by taking a rich family's child they will get money.
These types of kidnappings date back to early 1800's and often make better movies than reality.
On the other hand parental abductions make up the majority of the two by far.
There are a couple things to consider if a split can be seen coming.
The first thing you should consider is the other individual.
Hopefully you know your partner fairly well.
Is this and individual who may or may not act irrationally? Where would they go? Could he or she really do that? The best approach is to stay calm and discuss the options as they present themselves, if that's possible.
Keep in mind, shared responsibilities is opportunity for each to have private time and take care of business children don't always make easy.
It can also be good for alone time.
Adults should have a block of time they can be alone and reflect on life.
