- Decorate for a bowling party, whether it's being held at the bowling alley, your home or anywhere else.bowling club image by joanna wnuk from Fotolia.com
Bowling parties work for adults, children or a combination of both. Decorate your party area with your bowling theme in mind to create an atmosphere worthy of the best bowling alley around. Festive decorations will set the tone for your party and get your guests in the mood to celebrate. - Decorate your party table with a plain black table cloth or brown table cloth decorated to look like a bowling lane. Use fabric pens to decorate your own bowling lane table cloth on brown fabric if you can't find one.
Make brown wood grain-like strokes and add the black arrows and dots typically found on bowling lanes. A bowling lane decoration would also work for a long hallway or entryway and possibly be used for a bowling game during the party.
Use paper plates and napkins that look like a bowling scorecard, bowling ball or depict a bowling ball crashing into the pins. Use bowling towels as place mats or let your guests decorate blank bowling towels to take home as party favors.
Add a centerpiece on each party table, such as a bowling pin, ball or Styrofoam decorated to look like pins and a ball. A decorated cake that features bowling items could also serve as the centerpiece. - Fill the ceiling space with floating black and white balloons and streamers. Add in another color if you have another party color, such as hot pink, neon blue or red. Include some bowling ball and pin shaped balloons.
Use fishing wire to hang small plastic or Styrofoam bowling balls and pins from the ceiling. You might be able to position the ball and pins like the ball just struck a strike if you use two pieces of fishing line to position the pins or glue them together before hanging them. - Make large posters to look like bowling scorecards or build a collage with real scorecards. Posters of pro bowlers or newspaper articles about various bowlers or the Professional Bowlers Association are fitting if you or the party honoree has a favorite. Pictures of various bowling alleys, particularly any you've been to or want to go to are fitting.
For a child's party, consider making large posters with bowling terms written out like comic book words, such as "strike," "spare" or "turkey." Hang old bowling shirts, towels or shoes around the room. Make a bowling banner with bowling lingo that celebrates the occasion. Hang neon signs or make posters that look like neon signs.
