How to Hide Cut Grooves on a Stone Fireplace Mantel

    • 1). Clean out the cut grooves with a hand vacuum, sucking up any dust and tiny particles.

    • 2). Clean the stone mantel thoroughly with liquid stone soap and water, using a sponge, then let air-dry.

    • 3). Mix together 4 ounces of polyester resin and marble dust in a mixing bowl using a spatula until it becomes a paste.

    • 4). Squeeze some epoxy adhesive into the cut grooves, then immediately fill in the cut groove with the resin/marble dust mixture. Use a plastic putty knife to smooth it and scrape away excess.

    • 5). Mix more resin and marble dust as needed to finish hiding the cut grooves, then allow to dry in the stone mantel for 24 hours.
