I had been sitting there for about 45 minutes when it happened.
I was undercover and my heart started to beat faster.
The bartender just poured a free round of drinks for his friends.
The night shift manager had just left and that's when his friends came up to the bar.
I suspected this might be happening on a regular basis.
I nursed my drink, which was being paid for, and continued to watch.
Sure enough, someone else ordered a drink and it was not rung up on the cash register.
Later, the money went into the bartenders pocket.
I had enough and left to file my report.
That's not an unusual experience for a mystery shopper.
In this case the shopper worked for a PI and the info would be taken to the owner and they may launch further investigation with a background search to see if there are some problems going on.
Mystery Shopping companies can't do this, and that's why some states regulate mystery shoppers as an undercover activity.
For the Security of small and large business, they cannot overrule the use of a Mystery Shopper to find what is going on when the company is not watching.
