- 1). Plan out the space of your motocross track. Even the smallest motocross jump can send the rider flying for approximately 20 feet. You must have enough landing space for the size of your ramp. Give yourself at least 40 feet.
- 2). Clear out rocks and other hard objects or debris from the track. Hitting these things before jumping or upon landing can result in serious injury.
- 3). Place your professionally constructed hardwood or metal ramp in front of your landing space. Do not attempt to construct your own ramp without prior experience. Motocross ramps must have exact dimensions to prevent flipping or throwing the rider off her bike.
- 4). Cover the hardwood or metal ramp with dirt. The dirt covering should be at least six inches thick and packed tight.
- 5). Rake the dirt landing space. Remove rocks, hard chunks of dirt, or other debris that could compromise the landing.
