Setting Intervals in Workout Music

    • 1). Write a list of slow-tempo and fast-tempo songs that you enjoy listening to. List two to three songs for a warm-up, 10 fast-paced songs to help you enjoy a high speed workout interval, and two to three songs to cool down.

    • 2). Download and record a 15 minute interval of upbeat medium-speed music tracks for the beginning of your workout when you are stretching and warming up. Your warm-up may include walking, push-ups or slow cardio movements that increase fat-burning. This music interval should get you in the mood for your upcoming fast cardio.

    • 3). Record 30 to 45 minutes of fast-paced techno, hip-hop, Latin or heavy metal tracks that create a rhythm that motivates you to move at a high speed for activities such as running, kickboxing, dancing and Zumba.

    • 4). Play a five to 10 minute interval of slow-paced music to help you get and stay in cool-down mode. This helps you bring your heart rate down so you can relax your body and muscles while stretching and ending your workout.

    • 5). Arrange your songs so that they correlate to your work-out intervals. Add or delete songs, so you don't have to pause between your warm-up, workout and cool-down exercises. Replace songs once in awhile to keep the music and workout fresh.
