Back in 2005 when I got my degree in International Economics I was left with a big document that I had prepared for my thesis.
I had put a lot of effort into researching and writing it out, but I was sure that apart from myself only two people would end up reading it, my teacher and my father..

Instead of letting the document sit idle and gather dust, therefore, I decided to chop it off into small articles and publish them on the web.
That is when I started researching about web publishing models, and when I came across blogging.
I built my first blogs with raw HTML files, and after a while I discovered WordPress and became a loyal user.
After university I started working for a multinational company (inside the marketing department), but one year there was enough to make me realize that I didn't want to work inside large companies.
In fact I didn't want to work to anyone else, I wanted to have my own business, so I quit my job and started working full time with online projects.
That was late in 2006 if I remember well.
How much time do you spend on your blog? These days I would say that I spend 2 or 3 hours per day on blogging related activities.
This includes researching stuff for future posts, writing them out, and managing my other blogs where I have staff writers in charge of the content.
What are some of your other business ventures you are currently involved in? I have some mini websites where I make money with CPC ads and affiliate offers, but my main gig is OnlineProfits, which is an online marketing and business training program.
The program is currently closed for new members, but we are planning to open again in September or October of 2009.
You launched the OnlineProfits membership program a few months ago.
How is that going and what things have you learnt about running this membership site? The feedback that we got from the charter members was very positive.
In fact we don't force the continuity.
Members enrolled paying just the first month, and they could cancel their membership and stop paying at anytime.
Still, the majority of the members kept going month after month, and they will end the program in July.
The main thing that I learned is that any project that deals with hundreds of customers takes a heck lot of work.
The launch week was crazy for me, especially because I was handling most of technical aspects like members management and payment issues myself.
The tip here is therefore to delegate as much as you can and get help from people.
What are your top 3 tips you can give to our readers to run a successful Internet business like your blog and your membership program? First of all it is a good idea to create a popular blog in the niche where you want to operate.
A blog can give you credibility, it lets you demonstrate your expertise, it is a great networking tool and so on.
Once you have a popular blog, you will be able to leverage it to launch all sorts of products and projects.
The second tip is to always focus on creating value.
If you do that, the rest will follow naturally.
If you try to make money without creating value, sooner or later you will fall flat in your face.
Finally, follow your passion.
If you do something that you love, you will be damn good at it, and the money will follow.
If you follow the money, on the other hand, you will end up doing a mediocre job and won't get much of it.
