Barcelona is not really famous for his parks and gardens. If anything then Gaudí, Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas etc. But especially here in Barcelona you can find lots of oases to chill out after a stressful tourist day. Lying on the grass, reading a book or just meeting with your friends or your family for having a tasty picnic - what's better? On the other hand, you can spend a very special evening on the Plaza Espanya . Make sure to get near by Barcelona accommodation (alojamiento Barcelona) quick.
The Laberint d'Horta is located in Passeig dels Castanyers, Metro Montbau. This park is the oldest park in the city and it is a feast for the eyes if you see all the different plants and animals and between them lots of sculptures so that you feel like in paradise. And the labyrinth promises a lot of fun. There´s free access on Wednesdays and Sundays. The rest of the week you just have to pay a small fee. Bicycles and dogs are unfortunately not allowed.
Then there is the winter garden within the Ciutadella Park (Passeig Pujadas, Metro Ciutadella Vila Olimpica). In a huge glass building, there is a café which is surrounded by exotic plants. It´ s an ideal place for having a break after a long walk in the city center. And a walk through the Ciutadella Park is especially on Sundays really lovely. Then you can see young and old people relaxing in the park. There is also a romantic lake where you can let a rowboat. Try it!
The most famous park in Barcelona is probably the Parc Güell (Calle Olot, Metro Lesseps). It is a garden complex with architectural elements situated on the hill of el Carmel in the Grácia district of Barcelona. It was designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and built in the years 1900 to 1914. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Works of Antoni Gaudí".
Other famous parks are the Pedralbes Palace Park (Diagonal, 686, Metro Palau Reial), Barcelona University Gardens (Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 585, Metro University), Mossen Costa i Llobera Gardens (Carretera de Miramar, 1, Metro Parallel and Drassanes) and there are still more… Go on with the tour through the parks of Barcelona and get inspired by the diversity of green in the city Barcelona.
At night you get one of the most beautiful things in Barcelona, except going out for celebrate: the Magic Fountain on the Plaza Espanya. Almost every evening this show offers the audience a fantastic play of water, lights and music. Admire this magic fountain when it explodes into a spectacular display of different colours and music! The Montjüic Fountains or The Magic Fountain is a "must see" for any visit to Barcelona! Charles Buigas designed the Font Mágica in 1929 for the World Exhibition. It seemed that it would not be possible to build this complex within in a short time. But at least this project was realised by over 3000 workers.
Now in summer (May-September), there are performances from Thursday to Sunday, always from 8pm till midnight. In winter (October to April) you can enjoy on Fridays and Saturdays the wonderful ambience from 7pm till 9pm.The best way to reach Plaza Espanya is by Metro. Simply use the green line (L3) or the red line (L1).
For those Barcelona visitants who prefer to have a Barcelona apartment (apartamento Barcelona) directly in the city center, won´t have any problems to reach the Plaza Espanya.
