- 1). Power off the pool pump and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Disconnect the Pentair pump from the pool piping. Take the pump to a flat work area and remove the bolts holding the motor to the pump housing with a wrench. Separate the motor and Pentair pump.
- 2). Unscrew the screws holding the diffuser over the impeller with a screwdriver and remove it and the O-ring behind it. Attach clamps or pliers to the shaft behind the impeller and hold it still while turning the impeller off the shaft.
- 3). Remove the portion of the seal that did not come off with the impeller from the shaft. Unbox a new shaft seal and slide it onto the shaft to the very back, with the white side facing away from the motor.
- 4). Screw a new impeller onto the motor shaft. Hold the shaft with pliers or clamps if the impeller does not move easily on the shaft.
- 5). Lubricate a new O-ring with O-ring lubricant and place it around a replacement diffuser. Screw the diffuser into place on the shaft with a screwdriver.
- 6). Connect the motor to the pump housing with a wrench and the bolts removed previously. Connect the Pentair pump to the pool piping and plug its power cord into a wall outlet.
