How to Build a Clock

    • 1). Choose your clock face. This is your chance to get creative. Think outside the box to give your clock pizazz. Try using a family photo, a decorative stepping stone, or a serving platter.

    • 2). Pick your numbers wisely. Sure you can use the typical number stickers as labels or you could try something funkier like drawer pulls or river rocks. Use your imagination.

    • 3). Mark the place where you want your clock mechanism to go. Typically this will be somewhere near the center of the clock face. Once you have marked it, use a drill bit about the same size as the stem on your clock mechanism to make a hole. Sand away any rough edges around the hole.

    • 4). Place the mechanism through the hole. Put the rubber washer included in the clock kit on the back. Also, put the clip that will be used for hanging on the back of the clock as well.

    • 5). Tighten the nut and washer on the front of the clock around the mechanism to secure it into place.

    • 6). Put the hour hand on top of the nut first followed by the minute hand and another nut. Put the second hand on last and secure it with the cap provided in the kit.

    • 7). Adhere your numbers to the clock face. Use super glue if you are using a material such as rocks or sequins to ensure they stick. You will want to position the number labels at every thirty degrees around the clock.
