Just Turn Competitive Reality Television Off

Cooking, baking, restaurants, fashion, grooming and you name what else, these are just some of the many examples of competitive reality TV that are only one click away on your television set.
At first, I'm sure many wondered whether or not such programs would be here to stay, but the answer to that question is now perfectly clear.
For myself, having not been an avid couch potato for several years now, I still catch glimpses of some reality shows from time to time while passing through our living room.
The two questions that have always come immediately to mind from what I have been witnessing are, "How much of this is actually real?" and "What are these programs really teaching us?" Being a former teacher of the youth and a father of three boys (none of which are at ages where the damage of reality shows are a concern yet) I am often concerned about what our future generations are being fed and taught through the eye-gates and ears especially.
Living in Asia, I am happy to say that at least 95% of the Asians that I know - compared to North Americans - couldn't be bothered to waste their time watching human beings transform their civility into barbaric behavior at the expense of fame, competition and money.
The discerning of what is healthy or not for many has become bland or less potent when they are subject to so much pollution for so long.
It's time people got their moral compasses pointing north again and learn to turn off these reality shows and TV for that matter.
Now let us take a look at what trees of competition reality television are planted and what fruit they produce.
First and foremost, many reality shows are meant to be a competition plain and simple.
Everyone is fighting for the coveted prize of being recognized, in turn giving them the "right" to boast over their works above all the rest.
Before our very eyes, each member of the competition gets filmed and interviewed on what they say and do.
Having seen enough of this reality television in my life already, it's safe to say that every single show whether it's about being a master chef or best model are filled with selfishness, arrogance, gossip, backstabbing, slander, hypocrisy, foul language and lies.
All I can say to that is, "My goodness!" What has happened to our humility, compassion, practicing what we preach, kind words and our honesty? These character traits have now all been frowned upon as weakness and flushed down the toilet in hopes that they are never seen or heard from again.
Where has it all gone so wrong? I don't have the answers to all of these questions but my solution to this television programming, is to turn it off and leave it at that.
Don't even bother with it! In closing, let me say that having been quite well-traveled in my thirty-five years now, it's perfectly safe for me to say that not every country has been given over to a reprobate mind like what these reality shows would have the world believe.
We shouldn't be glorifying or magnifying the dirty laundry of a nation.
A dung pile attracts flies and nothing else.
The fruits of the competition reality programs are nothing but rotten from the core to the outside.
Let's all take a closer look at what we are feeding to our youth and ourselves for that matter.
We need to make conscious efforts to keep filthiness out of sight and out of mind once and for all.
