- If you take medications such as diuretics, lithium or too much vitamin D, you may have frequent nighttime urination due to over-production of urine.
- Changes in hormones during pregnancy, menopause or after childbirth may weaken the sphincter that closes your bladder, resulting in frequent nocturnal urination.
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs) may cause you to urinate during your sleep due to irritations to the muscles that control your bladder.
- Weakening or damage of your bladder from cancer, stroke, Parkinson's Disease or multiple sclerosis may cause a loss of bladder control during the night.
- Diabetes may cause urination during sleep in both children and adults, especially if the condition is not under control.
- Sexual abuse may cause nocturnal urination in children and adults as a result of injuries to the urinary tract.
