- Add peel-and-stick decals to the walls in any color, size or shape that complements the rest of the decor. Arrange the decals to create a frame around your teen's headboard, a border around the room or cover an entire wall with polka dots or wallpaper in any color and design that she likes. Create an entire mural using the decals or paint. Removable wall words can allow her and her friends to play around with different phrases or words. Her name, high school, friends' names or inspirational quotes, such as "Be Yourself" are just a few ideas.
- Hang accessories on the walls to pull the decor together for a completed look. Mirrors of any size, shape or color can give her a place to spot-check her makeup or freshen up her hair without kicking everyone else out of the bathroom. Hang strings of lights around the mirror or as a border around the room. Sheer curtains or curtains of beads or seashells can cover the windows or dress up a plain wall. Hanging plants and lights near the walls are other options.
- Install a couple of floating shelves on the wall or an entire shelving system if she could use the extra space for storage or displaying important items. Use baskets and organizers to keep her school supplies, electronics, makeup, jewelry and hair accessories organized. Alternatively, use the shelves to show off her trophies, awards, certificates or newspaper announcements that highlight her achievements.
- Hang a clothesline that runs the length of the room against the wall to clip posters, pictures, notes or other papers to for a casual look that's easy to update. Alternatively, frame posters, pictures and artwork and hang them on the walls. Posters might include her favorite celebrities, while artwork might include some original creations she made. Cork boards or white boards can give her a place to pin important reminders and show off pictures of the people she loves the most.
