How to Make a Heart Out of a Dollar Holding a Quarter in Origami

  • 1). Fold up both bottom corners of the dollar. The side edges should touch the top edge with a small space between the two upfolded corners in the center. Unfold the dollar. Repeat the process with the two top corners. Unfold the dollar.

  • 2). Fold each side of the dollar along the points where the diagonal creases intersect. Crease and unfold. Flip the dollar over.

  • 3). Pull in the top and bottom edges of one side along that side's vertical crease. Fold the dollar in along the diagonal creases as you pull down. This creates two folded triangles on either side of the dollar.

  • 4). Fold the dollar over so that the two triangles are touching with the fold in the center of the dollar.

  • 5). Fold in by 45 degrees the top and bottom corners along the dollar's newly folded edge. Open the dollar up along the inside edges created by these two corners. This creates a square shape made up of the two previous folded triangles.

  • 6). Fold the top and bottom flaps of one triangle inward by 45 degrees to rest against the top point of the triangle. Repeat with the other triangle.

  • 7). Unfold one flap and press open and flat into a square shape. Repeat with the three remaining flaps.

  • 8). Fold the sides of one square shape inward at a 45-degree angle so that it resembles an elongated diamond with the long sides pointing toward the dollar's center. Repeat this move on the other three square shapes.

  • 9). Unfold one of the folded flaps of the diamond shapes. Press it open and flat. Repeat with the other seven flaps of the diamond shapes.

  • 10

Flip the dollar over. Fold down the top corner to rest against the bottom corner, revealing a heart shape. The paper should fold over easily.

  • 11

Fold back the two side points. Slide a quarter into the star shape in the center of the heart to complete.
