- 1). Coat the paper in a photographic dark room. Avoid using Vandyke Brown coating in UV light as the light can change the quality. The coating material should remain in a dark, light-proof storage during the coating process.
- 2). Place newly coated paper in a photo paper box that can seal out light. The vital element to storing the paper is sealing the light until the print is completed. If planning a short-term sealing while coating other prints, a short-term storage option is appropriate. The Unblinking Eye website suggests a photo paper box for short-term storage. Place the paper in the box and seal it so that light does not get into the box.
- 3). Place the paper in a dark plastic envelope. The envelope needs to block out the light, so it must be light proof. This is for overnight storage of the coated paper. Usually, Vandyke Brown coated paper is not stored overnight and is finished throughout the same day. For long-term storage where the paper is kept overnight, the Unblinking Eye website suggests using a plastic envelope that blocks out light.
