How Do I Plan A Snow Trip?

Snow travel can be a slightly complicated process.
You can't just pick a place and go.
You need to think about accommodation, transportation, luggage, visas and travel insurance just to name a few things.
If your journey involves air travel, you need to think about baggage allowances and the complicated baggage weight systems of many airlines.
Don't get the weight of your bags wrong, because this can lead to massive overweight fees at the airport.
As well as this, many airlines have separate special rules for ski or snowboard bags that you need to be aware of.
Your journey doesn't end at the airport.
You need to make sure you book transportation to the ski resort as well as make sure you have some sort of accommodation ready.
Many of the cheaper accommodations will be sold out during peak season so planning ahead is great.
In some cases you may need to book your accommodation months in advance.
If you wish to work at the ski resort, you need to make sure you have done the proper paperwork and meet all the requirements to work.
This is especially complicated if you are not a permanent resident or citizen of the country you are visiting.
However, one benefit of working is that you may be entitled to many staff discounts throughout the resort, as well as staff accommodation and a free season pass in some cases.
You'll also need a lift ticket to get access to the ski hills.
Some planning ahead of time can be beneficial in getting the best deal.
Most resorts have different deals for lift tickets depending on the duration of your stay and in most cases if your visit is for more than 2 weeks, it may be cheaper to buy a season lift pass instead of day tickets.
The length of your visit can change many factors in planning your snow trip.
If you are visiting for a day, it's not too complicated to book a hotel and buy a 1 day lift ticket.
However, if you are visiting for a month or 2 months or even a full season, you have to think about finding long term accommodation before you visit the ski resort.
As well as this, a longer stay usually means you may need to find a job as well as making sure you have any necessary visas if you are visiting from another country.
