Citizenship And Immigration Canadas 2013 National Consultations On Immigration Levels Planning

Recently the consultation on immigration levels planning by the Citizenship and Immigration services of Canada took place in which it was stressed that the current immigration system should focus on managing multiple objectives. Hence the CIC has been engaging in coming up with exercise of annual levels that can balance the several objectives of the immigration program and also meet the commitments and the priorities of the governments as they keep on coming up. It has been decided at the national consultation that the commitments and objectives must be met by the annual levels plan and they should operate within the stipulated constraint of limited admissions of immigrants every year.

What does the annual consultation say?

In the plan the number of persons who can come to Canada in the upcoming year has been decided. Similarly, three classes for granting immigrant visas for permanent residents viz. family, economic and protected person has been categorized. Each category has also been provided with subcategories. The summer of 2011 saw CIC hold two separate but complementary annual consultations on the topic of immigration and its various levels. Similarly, Stakeholder consultation related to immigration level was also held in 2012. Regular consultations at various levels between 750 stakeholder organizations were held in the past two years who gave their inputs about the immigration levels and more consultations were carried out online during 2012. The responses suggest a neutral or a positive experience related to the existing immigration level of Canada. On the basis of these responses and inputs by various stakeholders some evaluations were deduced that say:

The immigration system firstly and fore mostly should come up with immigration plans that support the economic needs of Canada and also should ensure that the immigrants are properly stabilized in the country and are provided good enough opportunities for succeeding and contributing to Canadas economic growth.

More consultations and responses

More cross-country consultations were carried out by Minister Jason Kenney who along with Parliamentary Secretaries Chungsen Leung and Rick Dykstra pursued the immigration consultation issue throughout. The main aim of this vast consultation process was to gather responses and inputs on the immigration level of Canada and the right mix amongst the three categories of immigrant- family, economic and protected persons. Since then, more consultations have been carried out by the Canadian immigration consulate. The aim is to improvise the existent level of immigration program for encouraging the entrepreneurs.

At present there are certain sectors of Canada that are jobless or are untapped and this is where Canada intends to focus more. The main motive is to see the country develop from all the quarters which is only possible if it becomes self-reliant in most of the fields. These untapped sectors with vast potentials are currently the sore areas of Canadas economy. That is why through consultations it has been trying to evolve an immigration system that can excite and stimulate the potential entrepreneurs to immigrate to Canada.
