- 1). Ensure you have a credit card that can be used for any applicable down payments you need for your rental car.
- 2). Obtain a driver's license that is valid for operating a vehicle in the United States. Most rental cars in the United States, including those in Midlothian, require drivers to be at least 25 years of age.
- 3). Call the rental car company of your choice, or visit their website and follow the rental instructions to reserve the car of your choice. Remember to consider how many people will be traveling with you, how much luggage you'll have, and whether you will need to rent a car seat when you make your reservation. You will need to provide a credit card to reserve the car, and provide a date and time of pickup.
- 4). Arrive at the car rental location of your choice at the date and time you specified when you made your reservation. Make sure you have your driver's license and credit card. If you do not have your own comprehensive insurance, you will need to pay an additional fee for insurance, or risk having to pay out-of-pocket for any damages incurred while the car is in your possession. When you've given the proper identification and information, get your keys from the rental clerk, and find your car in the rental parking lot.
- 5). Return the car on the date specified and turn in the keys. When you check out, your credit card will be charged for the amount of the rental, minus any deposit you were required to pay ahead of time.
