For years comedy serials have ruled the Indian Television. Most family sagas have conquered hearts of million television viewers all thanks to their humorous content.
A couple of decades ago, when there wasn't a concept of K serials, a few like Hum Paanch, DekhBhaiDekh, TuTu Main Main, ShrimaanShrimathi and Office Office kept providing their viewers the daily dose of entertainment. These serials not only made the writers rethink about the seriousness of comedy but also defined the term family entertainment like never before.
When the phase of daily soaps began, these serials slowly started dying. A few channels tried to bring a few old series in a new way by introducing modern characters and replacing them with current top actors and actresses, but they failed to create the same magic as the old ones.
Soon in the race of theBest Comedy Entertainment we witnessed channels coming up with the concept of stand-up comedy in India. Shows like the Great Indian Comedy Show saw a new form of entertainment wherein struggling comedians were provided a golden platform on national television to entertain their audience. Many of these shows and the content provided worked for a while till soon it started fizzing out thanks to the reality shows.
But a few channels like Star, Sab TV and Life Ok have still managed to constantly create hilarious television shows for their audience, even today. Star TV's Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi were the epitome of comedy. Though the series did not run for more than a year, these two serials managed to make a place in the heart of their viewers in no time. Khichdi went on to become a film but did not manage to make its mark felt like the television show. Similar was the case with SAB TV's Office Office. However SAB TV still managed to provide a huge chunk of laughter with shows like Tarak Mehta KaOoltahChashmah, FIR, Lapataganj, ChidiyaGhar, RK Laxmankiduniya, Tota weds Maina, Jeannie and Juju, Chintu ban gaya Gentleman, GuturGu, Hum AapkeHai In Laws, Movers and Shakers, Malegaon KaChintu and Yes Boss.
That's not all; they have also created an online platform called SabTV.com for their online viewers who miss out of their television shows. So, viewers can now go to this portal and stream all the comedy serial videos of Sab TV.
Along with SAB, most television channels are coming forward to provide entertainment through comedy shows, to their television and online viewers. But with the decreasing comedy content from these channels, who will manage to match up the humorous content lot provided by SAB TV, we will have to just wait and watch.
