How to Stop Child Labor in India

A sign of grave sickness for any society, child labor is a result of one of the main societal issues that has constantly plagiarized the Indian society; poverty. Children continue to suffer in India as a result of the cyclical nature of societal issues that plagiarize the society.

Instead of leading a healthy and happy life, they try to help support the family; engaging in whatever economical activity that comes their way; after all they have no choice and no voice of their own.   They engage in dangerous occupations such as working in factories or even mining and often these jobs are in extremely unhygienic conditions.

Some of these jobs may include working in different industries such as gemstone polishing, hand-knotted carpets, footwear, glass, textiles, fireworks, silk and brassware. Children are especially welcomed for such professions despite the number of laws banning child labor owing to their deft fingers which are not even unionized; children can be bullied very easily and also paid a pittance.

Moreover, most of the times these children are also denied basic meals throughout the day which in turn leads to the deterioration of their health.

There are a number of non-profit organizations that work both within India as well as in other countries so as to prevent child labor from occurring. Moreover, many of these organizations work on raising funds through donation drives and through various foreign bodies which make generous donations towards the cause.

Underprivileged children in India; right from the time that they are born are forced into menial, laborious and jobs which are not at all safe for the well being of children. Demanding much more than what their actually stamina is equipped to take; these children miss out in the opportunity to obtain a meaningful education. Their parents too lack the resources to funds their education and require all the possible helping hands to earn meagre amounts of money so that the family can survive.

Why should a young 9 or 10 year old be working for over 12 hours a day serving customers or working long hours with his tiny hands? Of course this is not fair and is unjust, especially with the number of laws that are existing but sadly this issue is too huge to be tackled at one go. Interlinked with other problems such as illiteracy and poverty child labor can only be eradicated once other issues too go away. However, it can only be managed in today's times and there is no single method which can tell a person how to stop child labor in India.

Various non-profits organizations and charitable organizations need to constantly work on different projects to alleviate the society from this problem. This would mean creating different short and long term projects which would have to be worked on dedicatedly by volunteers so as to improve the condition of underprivileged children in India.
