  In some ways, a jet airplane is a jet airplane. All jets have some parts that are used for basic flight. Passenger jets also have parts based on passenger needs. Some of these needs include hunger, comfort, entertainment and storage. Some small passenger jets used primarily for short trips may not feature all the same parts as some larger passenger jets.
  
  

Common Parts

• As mentioned, all jet aircraft share some of the same basic parts. All aircraft need wings to provide lift, engines to propel the aircraft and landing gear to allow the plane to take off and land. Jets and other airplanes use flight controls to maneuver instrument systems and to help crew members process information from outside the aircraft.
  
  

Interior

• Passenger jet interiors differ from cargo jet interiors and small jet interiors. Cargo jets are configured to carry a large amount of cargo but only a small amount of passengers. Passenger jet interiors have enough seats to accommodate many passengers and interior panels that are practical yet decorative.
  
  

Entertainment System

• In-flight entertainment consists of more than just a movie screen. Modern in-flight entertainment systems can deliver audio and video via individual touch-screen monitors that also are capable of running multiple computer applications. In-flight entertainment is not a staple of all passenger jets, but it is very common on large passenger aircraft and during long flights.
  
  

Galley

• Aircraft passengers have become accustomed to being served meals on some flights. These meals are stored, heated and prepared in the airplane's galley, which is a compact version of a kitchen. It can house refrigerators, ovens, coffee makers and other kitchen appliances in a self-contained unit.
  
  

Cargo Bay

• Jet passengers seldom travel without belongings. Belongings that cannot fit into predesignated areas are stored in an aircraft's cargo bay. Many passenger planes have more than one cargo bay. Each is located under the floor of the passenger compartment. Ground handlers access the cargo compartment through specialized cargo doors.
