How to Bring Wine on a Airplane

    • 1). Check with your airline prior to your travel date to find out what the airlines policy on checking alcoholic beverages is. The rules differ on each airline, restricting the number of bottles you may check, the size of the bottles you may check and the alcohol content in each bottle.

    • 2). Pack your wine carefully. You can put your wine in a case or box to check, provided the case or box meet your airline's checked baggage size and weight guidelines. Otherwise, you can carefully wrap your bottles to prevent breakage and place your wine right inside your luggage. Check with your airline to find out if special packaging is required to check wine bottles on a flight.

    • 3). Check your luggage at your airlines ticketing counter. Ask the ticketing agent to place "Fragile" stickers on the bags carrying your wine even though airlines state they are not responsible for items broken or otherwise damaged during travel. Pay any baggage fees.
