- 1). Slather on moisturizer that contains natural humectants such as lecithin, glycerin and panthenol, after every shower, in the morning and before bedtime.
- 2). Bring or install a humidifier in your office or bedroom. The recycled nature of central air conditioning and heating draws moisture from the surface of your skin. A humidifier balances this dry environment, allowing your skin to keep its natural moisture.
- 3). Eat fruits and vegetables packed with moisture such as melons, citrus fruits and squash. When you include more moisture in your diet and drink at least eight cups of a water each day, you help ensure that your body has enough fluids to properly hydrate your skin.
- 4). Stop using creams, detergents and skin products that contain harsh synthetic chemicals. Dehydrated skin lacks a protective barrier, making your skin more sensitive to irritating compounds and perfumes. Instead, choose dye-free, scent-free products until your skin regains that protective layer of moist surface cells.
