- 1). Hold the accessory against the wall to determine the proper positioning of the mounting brackets included with the accessory. Mark the top, bottom, and sides of the accessory with a dry erase marker.
- 2). Cut a piece of painter's tape to the size of the marks made in Step 1. Press the tape onto the wall within the borders of the marks.
- 3). Hold the mounting plate for the accessory against the tape and mark the location of the screw holes.
- 4). Drill the holes at a slow speed using a variable speed drill with a new carbide-tipped masonry drill bit. Most accessories need a 1/4-inch hole for the plastic anchor. Hold the drill level and apply solid, but not heavy, pressure against the back of the drill. Drill the hole to the proper depth of a plastic anchor.
- 5). Remove the tape from the wall and press the plastic anchor into the hole until the tip of the anchor is flush with the tile. Thread the mounting screw included with the accessory through the mounting plate and screw it into the plastic anchor. Repeat for each mounting bracket and screw location. Complete the installation following the directions included with the accessory.
