There are three main benefits when it comes to receiving trophies and awards. These three benefits are recognition, morale boost and an increase in production.
Whether it's at work or we're participating in team sporting event we like to be recognized for our achievements. When we receive an award or a trophy it certainly give us a sense of achievement. It gives us a reason to keep doing what we're doing and how we're doing it.
We all feel good when we have exceeded someone's expectations or went above and beyond what we normally do at the workplace. We like it when a person in management takes notice in our hard work. Moral is very important to boost in a business environment or in team sporting events. It provides an opportunity to get a "good job" from upper management. When we take first place in the local football championship game it's a way for coaches to say "way to go team". Taking home a trophy also gives the team boasting rights during the off season.
Receiving a trophy or an award also boosts productivity and team efforts. It gives fellowemployees and other teams something to shoot for the next month or season. Other people well see your reaction to the noticeable recognition and want the same recognition that you received. This will obviously bring competition into the workplace but as the saying goes "a little competition never hurt anything". A little competition is healthy for business. Competition in some cases increases the chance for employees to come together and work as a team. For example, a lot of companies recognize safety in the work place. This is sometimes accomplished by employees establishing a safety team who focus on certain hazards in the workplace.
In conclusion, handing out awards provides recognition, boosts moral, provides a littlecompetition and increases the chances of the creation of teamwork. We all like to feel good about ourselves and receiving a trophy or an award achieves this feeling. We also all like to be acknowledged for our good deeds. Of course there are some cases of modesty out there but, for the most part we like to be noticed publicly. Yes, it is nice just to receive a pat on the back but sometimes it nice to allow everyone else to see how much we are appreciated by management or our coach. So, if you are a manager or coach allow your employees and and players to proud or their achievements.
