- Before you choose a travel location, consider the factors that are important to you. If you are an older single man, you might not be comfortable in travel locations that are frequented by young, wild backpackers--or, that might be exactly what you're looking for. Likewise, younger single men might not be as comfortable at an expensive European resort that is likely to be frequented by older customers.
- For younger single men looking for a relaxed atmosphere with the option to party or not to party, the traditional backpacker routes are a good choice. Staying in hostels, visiting beaches and frequenting local bars ensure that single travelers will meet many other travelers. One popular backpacking route is in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, India, Vietnam and Cambodia. For a more expensive but equally fun experience, the European backpacker route is popular with young people from around the world; backpackers can be found in almost every European city, and are generally concentrated in beach areas and in large cities.
- Single male travelers who are looking for adventurous travel locations can consider places like Nepal, India, China, New Zealand and Argentina. In such locations many travelers come solo, and it is easy to meet other people. In Nepal the major trekking routes are frequented by single travelers, and it is possible to meet other travelers on hiking or rafting day tours. Adventure travel locations tend to attract a wide range of ages, so both younger and older single men will be comfortable.
- If you are not interested in traveling independently, consider a tour group geared toward single travelers. Contiki, for example, specializes in tours for 18- to 35-year-olds. Its trips boast a party atmosphere and include activities designed to encourage interactions among travelers. Older single male travelers might consider a tour company like Best Single Travel, which offers tours for singles over 30, as well as a host of other singles tours.
- If you are traveling alone as a single male, it may be best to avoid locations that cater largely to couples and families. Places like the Sandals resorts, large family resorts near theme parks, and family-friendly cruises might not offer opportunities for single men to mingle with other travelers.
