Rockie Lynne"s VFW Club Tribute to the Troops
< Continued from page 1
Emotions would really run deep tonight as he sang "More." It is a powerful song in it's own right but to hear this song tonight, and being among so many veterans and family members of fallen soldiers, there was no denying the depth of their pain. I will forever remember the importance of Veterans Day. I don't want you to think that the evening was a somber and sad occasion, to the contrary, it was a night of celebration and honoring veterans and heros.
"Love's The Only Reason" and "Don't Let The Door Hit You" would bring the dance floor to life especially with the rock-a-billy beat of the last song. I have written in my notes WOW. Haven't seen many wow's in my notes all summer so I know the guitar playing on that was spectacular. There was more exceptional guitar playing as Rockie performed "Liquid," a song of his instrumental album called Twilight. This album allows fans to hear what a gifted song writer and musician Rockie is. I love to put this CD in when I need to relax and get lost from the world for a while.
No show is complete without "Lipstick!" However this evening was not going to end so soon. The crowd wouldn't even let him leave the stage, the standing ovation started immediately and continued until he sang "Never Had The Chance To Say Goodbye" which gave me goose bumps, and then he sang a medley of gospel songs, including "May The Circle Be Unbroken." Gospel never sounded so good, I could have listened to their harmony all night long.
"Red, White and Blue" and "God Bless America" had everyone on their feet and the evening would end with a final tribute to the troops as he sang "Heroes Come From Small Towns."
I took a moment to look around and as I did I saw parents hugging other parents of fallen soldiers. You can't help but feel their pain. Tonight we were here to support family, friends and heros and we were brought together by a very special man, a man that helps them heal through the power of his music; a man that helps them heal with the power of love; a man that helps them heal by simply being generous and kind; that man is Rockie Lynne.
