Disney Winter Vacations

    • You can ride a roller coaster on a Disney vacation.twisting rollercoaster image by Christopher Nolan from Fotolia.com

Disneyland and Disney World are resorts located in Anaheim, California and Orlando, Florida, respectively. Each offers kid-friendly entertainment such as an amusement park and Disney-themed attractions, as well as more adult pursuits like golf and pool-side relaxation. In the winter, prices and crowds are down, and the weather is usually mild and inviting, making it the perfect time for a visit. Disney goes out of its way to fill up their resorts during winter, and offers significant savings during their down season.

Get 25 to 40 Percent Off

    • These deals make October through February a great time to visit, albeit with a few blackout dates around Thanksgiving and the holidays. The festive decorations are charming and the weather is cooler, but Southern California and Florida are rarely ever cold. You can stay at any level of Disney's resort hotels, from Value Resort Hotels to Deluxe Villa Resorts. These deals are good as of November, 2010, and you have to book by Nov. 21.

    Get a $200, $300 or $500 Gift Card

    • Book a five-night stay from October through February and, depending upon what type of room you book, you'll receive a gift card worth $200 to $500 that is valid at the restaurants, special events, sporting events, recreation, shops and nearly everything else Disney has to offer. As before, there are some blackout dates around Thanksgiving and the holidays, so check Disney's website to make sure that your desired dates are included in the deal. You must book by Nov. 21.

Save 20 to 30 Percent on Short Stays

    • Book a two-night stay from anytime between Oct. 1 and mid-December and you'll save 20 to 30 percent on your room at certain locations. As of November, 2010, this offer is only valid at the Paradise Pier Hotel, the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, but keep checking the website for updates. You must book by Dec. 1.

    More Deals

    • Disney is constantly making fresh discount offers to try and lure customers during the winter months. For most of the above offers, you have to book by a certain date, but you can be sure that if they still have some empty rooms after that date, they'll either extend those offers or come up with something new.

    Good Neighbor Packages

    • Staying within Disney's park is nice if you want total immersion in the fantasy land that is Disney. But if you want to keep one foot in reality (and save a few bucks), Disney offers their "Good Neighbor Package," where you can stay at a nearby non-Disney hotel, but still get all of the little perks of Disney, including early morning theme park passes.
