Hemoglobin Clot

    Hemoglobin Clots

    • Clotting is important in the healing process. When there is an open wound, the blood rushes to the site in order to seal it using a blood clot and help prevent infection.

Platelets release a chemical that helps to form a protein called fibrin, which works a little like a spider's web to bind blood cells together into a solid clot.

Meanwhile, the white blood cells fight will any infection that may have entered the body through the wound.

    Possible Risks

    • If a clot is formed unnecessarily or if it moves from a wound site to the heart, lungs or brain, it poses health risks because it blocks blood flow and other important functions.

Depending on where the clot rests, it can cause heart attacks, stroke, embolism and thrombosis. These disorders are all debilitating and potentially life threatening.

    Treatment and Prevention

    • If tests show that you suffer or are likely to suffer from blood clots and related problems, your doctor may be able to prescribe you drugs called blood thinners. These help your blood remain liquid and reduce the threat of clot-related disorders.

However, issues may arise if you are already taking any other medication.
