Cinderella's Castle Party Ideas

    Castle Cake

    • The centerpiece for most parties is the cake; create a castle cake for your Cinderella party by using a special castle-shaped pan. Purchase the cake pan at a craft supply or a party store along with a box of cake mix. Decorate the cake with white frosting and add special treats such as sprinkles and pink flowers made from icing. Alternatively, have a bakery bake the cake for you. Bring sample photos of the cake you would like.

    Castle Photo-op

    • Use photographs as a way to remember special events. Create a castle wall for a background to take theme-specific guest photos. For the wall, use a large piece of foam polystyrene that you can find at your local home improvement store. Paint the polystyrene foam grey; add a rock or brick design on it using black paint and a fine-tipped paintbrush to outline the rocks. Add details such as a vine growing up the wall or a family crest made from felt for a more authentic castle look. Ask the little girls to pose in front of the wall while you take photos of them. Add props such as crowns and scepters for a truly memorable photo.

    Castle Entrance

    • Turn your front door into the entrance to a castle. Make drawbridge "chains" by cutting brown and black construction paper into strips and looping them together to form a chain. Attach the paper chain to the top of the front door and attach the other end to the ground approximately 4 to 5 feet away from the door. Cover the door with a large piece of brown kraft paper that you have painted to look like woodgrain. To make a woodgrain effect, simply dip a paintbrush in brown paint to make long streaks and round, swirly "knots." Make a hole for a doorknob and peephole before attaching the paper to the front door.

    Castle Piñata

    • Find or make a Cinderella castle piñata. You can find a castle piñata at party stores and most big box retailers. If you are unable to locate one, you can make a piñata (see resources). Fill the piñata with candy and small princess-themed toys. Use a broom instead of a stick to represent Cinderella's old broom and to break open the piñata. Supply bags for the guests to collect their prizes when the piñata breaks open.
