Of late, more people are inclined to become vegetarians.
If you are one of them, you will need to convince your family of the value of this more nutritious and improved eating habit.
As a parent, you know your role in helping your children develop into healthy citizens materially, intellectually and spiritually.
This is a tough task.
When our families are constantly inundated by high-pitched invites from McDonalds and Pizza Huts, teaching your kids to resist them is almost God's work.
You need to explain to them how they can be healthier and happier with home cooked vegetarian food as against fast foods and non-vegetarian meals.
Instant changes cannot be a reality, especially in the case of eating habits.
Quietly and slowly effect the changes.
To start with, stock your refrigerator more with fruits and vegetables.
Buy less of meat and other foods that contain fat, sodium and excessive proteins.
Buy brown rice in stead of white rice.
Avoid processed foods.
Reduce eating out.
Ensure more vegetables, greens and grains in daily meals.
Convert your kitchen into a more innovative place.
Involve kids and prepare what interests within the unannounced constraints.
Make changes gradually so they will not feel that they are being deprived of something that they have always liked.
Do not totally ban fast food restaurants.
Take your kids there.
But get them only fruit or yogurt with a vegetarian meal.
Slowly but effectively teach them the value of being kind to animals.
Reason out with them about how we can eat food that is good and tasty, without being cruel to animals.
You make your children's life so much more valuable by turning them into vegetarians.
This will keep them away from obesity and the plethora of problems related to it.
The eating habits that you put in them will make them a long, healthy and happy life.
You cannot do them a bigger favor.
