- 1). Confer with any passengers you might have brought with you to see if they remember where you parked. As a driver, it can be tempting to take control of all situations involving your car, but the fact is that someone else might have been paying more attention than you were.
- 2). Empty your pockets to see if you picked up a ticket at any point that denoted the row of the parking lot in which you parked your car. Although this may only serve to narrow your search field slightly, it will prevent you from wasting unnecessary time in parts of the parking lot where you certainly won't find your car.
- 3). Click the "Unlock" button on your keyless entry device as you walk through rows of cars. When unlocked via keyless entry, the majority of cars' horns will beep. By adding an auditory element, you increase the likelihood that you'll be alert enough to see your car when you walk past it.
- 4). Look out for details. If you have a car whose coloring or model is nondescript and common, keep your focus on details that distinguish your car from others -- bumper stickers, antenna covers and even cosmetic damage. Searching for a logo or model name can quickly become hypnotizing in a lot full of cars, but you will certainly notice features that are unique to your car if you see them.
