- 1). Determine the location for the handle. If part of the area is underwater, drain the pool until there are several inches of wall between the location and the water level. Allow the wall to dry before moving to the next step.
- 2). Open the pool handle kit. Measure and mark the location for the drill holes. Drill the holes between three and six inches in depth.
- 3). Fit the rail poles into the holes to ensure equal depth and proper fit.
- 4). Mix the quick-set concrete. Fill the holes completely with the concrete mix.
- 5). Slide the escutcheon plates (the rings that cover the drill holes) onto the ends of the bar, ensuring they are facing the right way. Slide the bar into the concrete-filled holes. Add more concrete if needed to make sure the rail is fully surrounded and the hole is completely filled. Smooth the concrete with the trowel and scrape away any excess.
- 6). Make certain the rail is level, then hold it in place until the concrete begins to dry. Don't let go until the concrete is dry enough to hold the bar in place. Wait at least 24 hours before continuing to the next step.
- 7). Slide the escutcheon plates flush against the pool wall. Drill the screw holes for attaching the escutcheon platesm and secure them with screws. Wait another 48 hours before testing the strength of the handle.
