How to File a Motion for Reconsideration in Family Division in Washington County, Pennsylvania

    • 1). Draft a motion for reconsideration in which you set forth the facts and authority that support a reconsideration. File the motion with the clerk of the court within 30 days of the entry of the order or opinion. The address for the clerk of the court is as follows:

    • 2). Serve a copy of the motion for reconsideration upon all other parties at least three days prior to a hearing on the matter.

    • 3). Attend a hearing on the motion before the family law judge (Honorable John F. DiSalle, at the time of publication), who handles all family court matters, including divorce, custody, domestic relations and child support matters. Motions court for the family law judge is held on Wednesdays at 9:15 a.m. in Courtroom No. 3.

    • 4). Allow 120 days for the reconsidered decision to be issued. At the time of the hearing, the judge shall grant or deny the motion for reconsideration. However, the court may take 120 days, according to Rule 1930.2 of the Pennsylvania Code, after the hearing to issue the reconsidered decision.
