How to Install an Outdoor HD Antenna

    • 1). Visit AntennaWeb or a similar website that will help you locate the direction of the local TV broadcast towers in your area. Enter the information requested to determine the location.

    • 2). Go into your backyard. Use the compass to find the direction of your local TV broadcast towers. Go to the side of the house that faces in that direction.

    • 3). Place a ladder against the wall. Climb the ladder and place the mounting bracket of the outdoor HD antenna against the wall. Secure the mounting bracket to the side of the house with screws using the electric screwdriver.

    • 4). Unscrew the tripod lock on the antenna. Rotate the head of the antenna so that it's pointing in the general direction of the broadcast towers. Tighten the tripod lock to secure the antenna in position.

    • 5). Screw in an end of the coaxial cable into the coax output on the bottom of the antenna. Apply silicone paste around the end of the coaxial cable to seal it to the coax output. Let the silicone paste set for 10 minutes before proceeding.

    • 6). Place the "U" of a nail clamp over the coaxial cable just below where it attaches to the connection on the antenna. Hammer the nail clamp into the wall.

    • 7). Run the coaxial cable down the side of the house, affixing it to the wall using nail clamps. Make a hole in the baseboard through the wall next to the patio door with the portable drill. Run the coaxial cable through the hole and along the baseboard to the TV.

    • 8). Screw the end of the coaxial cable into the coax input on the TV. Secure the coaxial cable to the baseboard with the nail clamps.

    • 9). Apply silicone paste to the inside and outside of the hole to seal it off.
