If you are considering a skiing or boarding holiday this year in Europe, renting a ski chalet in Chamonix should definitely be on your shortlist.
Chamonix is consistently voted one of the top ten ski resorts in the world and it's easy to see why.
The Chamonix Valley boasts some outstanding alpine scenery, with Mont Blanc providing a stunning backdrop to the area.
In addition to some beautiful scenery, the Chamonix also has one of the largest ski areas in Europe, with slopes for absolutely every ability.
Chamonix has forged a reputation as the capital of off-piste skiing in France, with the snow covered glaciers of the Valley Blanche reaching almost legendary status among off-piste skiers and boarders.
The Valley Blanche is a 20km off-piste descent into the town of Chamonix that is accessed by the Aiguille du Midi cable car, one of the highest cable cars in Europe.
Aside, the off-piste skiing there are hundreds of marked runs for all different abilities - long runs, runs through trees, freeriding and plenty of nursery slopes for novices.
In terms of accommodation, if your budget allows it a catered chalet is a great way to make the most of your holiday.
Most catered chalets come with come with a couple of members of staff to keep the chalet clean and to cook meals for you.
Standard fare is usually the choice of a continental or cooked breakfast before you hit the slopes, some chalets will offer the option of a packed lunch if you don't want to have lunch at a cafe or restaurant.
Then when you have finished you day on the slopes you can expect tea with home baked cakes, before an evening meal, usually 3 courses with wine.
If you haven't experienced a chalet before, it is very nice to have you meals cooked for you and it obviously allows more time to relax after an energetic day tearing up the slopes in Chamonix.
In my opinion you have to go a long way to beat a ski chalet holiday in Chamonix.
