Winter is already over and we are all looking forward to the summer weather when we finally can go on a well deserved picnic excursion.
When you prepare for the picnic you need to pack a few things so you make the most of your day or afternoon off.
It is not a nice feeling knowing that you forgot those forks that are needed to pick the bits of meat or salad.
Eating with the hands is not always fun.
In order to know what exactly to pack for your outing, you need to think of a few major areas: the food, the storage and kitchen utensils and finally the actual basket that holds it all.
The food is what usually people tackle first.
Everybody wants to see their favorite food prepared and in the basket to enjoy during the trip.
However one thing you need to remember and pay attention to is food safety.
Depending on type of food, some are allowed to be in the open for a lot longer than others.
If you have something that is easily spoiled, leave it rather behind in the fridge.
Some of the most common types of foods you can bring along to your outing are sandwiches, fruits, bread and some salads.
Of course children can't stay long without their trusted snacks and chocolate, so those will be packed up too.
Water is another obvious part of any picnic basket, and sometimes coffee too.
Once you have the food out of the way, you need to think of what you will be eating that food with and what else you need on the table.
You need to store the food in plastic containers and if you want to keep the water cool, have some water bottle coolers with you as well.
Forks, knives and spoons are also necessary, just as you need to bring with you various cups, glasses and plastic plates.
Napkins should not miss from any afternoon outing.
Lastly you need the prepare the actual basket and organize everything to fit neatly in.
You can find many different types of baskets and the type you take with you will mostly depend on how many people will be there, what type of food you bring with you and the actual picnic style.
