- 1). File Form I-30, "Petition for Alien Relative." You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to be a petitioner. This form asks for basic information about the petitioner and the foreign relative. You can access this form through the uscis.gov website. Along with the form, the site includes more directions that address individual situations.
- 2). Complete form G-325A if you are applying specifically for a spouse. This form provides biographical information about the petitioner.
- 3). Have your spouse complete a G-325A as well.
- 4). Submit form I-30, your form G-325A and your spouse's form G-325A, along with a photograph of the foreign spouse and the filing fee.
