Over the holidays, you can't beat a camping trip in the beautiful outdoors.
If you've decided to camp out this summer, there are a few pieces of camping equipment you need to remember, to make sure your trip is as fun and comfortable as possible! 1.
Sun Protection You're going to be spending most of your time outdoors, so you'll need sun protection.
In the scramble to get your camping equipment ready for your summer trip, don't forget the most important things of all: A sun shade or beach umbrella, a hat, light clothing, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
Be prepared, and you can enjoy the sunshine safely! 2.
Cooking Supplies and Food One of the best things about the Kiwi Summer is the BBQ - so remember to bring some sort of cooking equipment, if you can.
Essential supplies such as sausages and bread can probably be picked up from a store local to your campground, but if you're going to be somewhere out of the way, tinned food is a great option.
Even better - if you're a keen fisherman, spend the day on the water and bring dinner home! 3.
Entertainment and Games Camping doesn't have to be boring.
The idea is that you'll be enjoying the sunshine and outdoors; add a Frisbee or ball to your camping equipment, so you can play sports on the grass or beach.
Just remember that the Kiwi summer is never reliable - so you should remember to bring "indoors" games such as playing cards, board games or books - so you have something to do on a rainy day! 4.
Appropriate Clothing You'll be kicking yourself if you don't remember your togs, jandals, and comfortable camping gear such as shorts and t-shirts.
When you're camping, you won't have easy access to things such as ironing boards, and most likely your clothes won't be staying clean for long - so casual, comfortable clothing is best! Also don't forget things like walking or running shoes, so you can go for a tramp or walk, or play summer sports if you want to.
5.
Mosquito Repellent and a First Aid Kit Whether you're inside the tent, or outside - those mosquitoes will find you! Your best defence is a good mosquito repellent.
You can even get citronella candles which double up as a light source at night, while keeping the mosquitoes away.
Also, when you're spending time in the outdoors, most likely you're going to need some sort of first aid, whether it's sunburn relief, antiseptic, insect bite cream, or plasters for blisters or cuts and scrapes.
Make sure you're prepared! Make a list of all the camping equipment you need for your trip - just aim to keep it to a minimum, especially if you're getting to your holiday location by car, or by foot.
Otherwise, all you have to do now is enjoy the great outdoors!
