- 1). Place cotton button-front shirt face up on your work surface. Place a sleep sack pattern over it, positioning the pattern so the neck falls just below the shirt's collar. Draw around the pattern with a pencil, and cut two matching pieces, one from the top layer and one from the back layer of the shirt.
- 2). Line up the two pieces with the front sides facing each other.
- 3). Sew the top of one shoulder together, leaving a 1/4-inch between the thread and the edge of the material. Repeat this with the other shoulder.
- 4). Attach each side and the bottom together, using the sewing machine, leaving a 1/4-inch space between the thread and the edge of material.
- 5). Fold down the edge of the neck 1/2-inch and pin it. Stitch around the neck 1/4 inch in from the edge. Repeat this with each armhole.
