Swiffer WetJet Wood Floor Cleaner Overview

I recently noticed that Swiffer had a refill bottle for it's WetJet mopping system that was specially made for sealed hardwood and laminate floors. I've reviewed this convenient type of mop before, and decided to give the mopping solution a try. Like all of their products, it was simple to pop the refill onto the Swiffer WetJet mop I've been using for the last year.

I added a regular Swiffer mopping pad and was ready to tackle the dirt and grime on our downstairs floors.

It didn't take long to realize that this cleaning solution packs a powerful punch. I didn't even have to scrub at sticky sections of the floor. They wiped away clean with very little effort. The smell of the solution was mild and not overpowering. Everything was going great until I got to the last section of the floor. All of the suddent the plastic top of the mop handle broke apart in my hand. I was shocked. I've never had a WetJet break on me, yet. I finished mopping as best I could with the broken mop, and then surveyed the floor to see how it had down. It was definitely clean, and with very little effort. But the floor was not shiny at all. I have to admit I was disaapointed. With how clean the floor was getting, I had expected a nice shiny glow. Instead, there were even a few spots that seemed cloudy, and none of the floor was the least bit shiny. I stood there with the broken mop handle and a cloudy floor wondering where the cleaner had gone wrong.

Swiffer WetJet Wood Floor Cleaner: Pros

The Swiffer WetJet Wood Floor Cleaner really gets floors clean. I was shocked at some of the stuff it was able to pick up without any scrubbing or pre-treating the spots on the floor. Even a bit of dried marshmallow cream came up without any effort on my part. The scent is mild and fantastic. The product is super simple to use and connects right onto your WetJet mop. This is a convenient product with an automatic sprayer used to deliver the floor cleaner directly onto the floor. The solution is not sticky and doesn't not leave a grimy residue on the floor like other mopping solutions can. The solution alone was able to lift up grime and dirt in one pass of the mop that I thought would be impossible for it to get in 15 passes. I was truly impressed with its cleaning power.

Swiffer WetJet Wood Floor Cleaner Cons

I hated that as the floor dried, it dried with a matte finish. I like shiny floors, and I know I'm not the only one. There was nothing shiny about those floors. The solution can also be expensive, and although it is a refill, there is no way to refill the container with your own solution. I was extremely disappointed that the mop handle broke so quickly, too. In fact, it surprised me, since I have used quite a few Swiffer WetJets in my life and never before had one break.

This product is not designed to be used on unsealed wood. It may not be a good idea to use it even on laminate or sealed wood with damage to the surface. The output of the spray is fairly high, and although the pad does a good job of absorbing the extra cleaner, it still has the potential to seep into large crakcs and do damage.
