How to Have a Pool Tournament

    • 1). Decide the type of pool game that will be played in your tournament. You can choose to have teams compete against one another, quick nine-ball games, or solo competition. The game being played may be based on the number of players present for the tournament.

    • 2). Research the rules of the game being played at the tournament. Make notes on any changes that you may have. For example, you may choose to require the players to call their final shot, or perhaps call every shot. Type up the rules and distribute them among players before the day of the tournament.

    • 3). Create the bracket for the tournament and place each player or team on it. A simple idea is to have a single elimination tournament where one loss means the player is out of the tournament. The winner goes on to play the winner of another match. For example if Team A beats Team B and Team C beats Team D, Team A and C will compete against one another.

    • 4). Decide if there will be a prize awarded to the tournament winner. This can be a cash prize made up of a small entry fee payed by each player or another symbol of victory such as a trophy or a souvenir eight ball.

    • 5). Begin the tournament and have one person assigned as an impartial referee for each game. It will be this person's job to solve any disputes between players as well as ensure that the rules of the tournament are followed.

    • 6). Continue the tournament until one player or team is victorious.
