- 1). Disconnect the range's power supply, either by turning off the range breaker or unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet.
- 2). Rotate the oven door's two hinge locks down toward the door and then close the door to the broil-stop position. Lift the door up and off of the range. Removing the door makes the components of the range more accessible.
- 3). Remove the oven racks from the oven compartment.
- 4). Remove the two thumb screws from the lower panel of the range, and then remove the lower panel. If replacing the broil igniter, which is located at the top of the range, skip this step.
- 5). Remove the screws that secure the burner shield assembly to the range and remove it. The bottom burner shield assembly covers the burner. On some models, the broil burner shield is connected to the burner itself, and the burner pulls out of the range with the shield.
- 6). Remove the mounting screws securing the igniter into position, and then pull the igniter away from the rear of the oven. The igniter wire harness pulls through the rear oven wall as the igniter is removed.
- 7). Disconnect the igniter wire harness, and discard the old igniter.
- 8). Connect the new igniter to the wire harness and secure it into position, using the screw that was removed.
- 9). Reinstall the burner shield assembly and secure it using the screws that were removed.
