Heartburn Foods to Avoid If You Want to Get Rid of That Heartburn Pain

Acid problems can be eased if you know which heartburn foods to avoid.
There are many foods which can be behind the causes of heartburn.
Some of the may surprise you, I know that they surprised me when I used to suffer with acid problems.
The first one that I am going to start off with was the most difficult one that I had to come to terms with, and that is chocolate.
Even writing this depresses me.
Chocolate contains theobromine which is also found in coffee.
What theobromine does is that relaxes the small valve (esophageal sphincter) which is connected between the esophagus and the stomach.
This valve closes shut once food is passed into the stomach.
Chocolate relaxes it, which means that the acid can escape from the stomach.
So avoid chocolate.
Foods that are high in fat can also be a problem.
This is because your stomach has to produce a lot of acid to break down fats, so if your stomach is overflowing with acid, the chances of it leaking out are increased.
Spicy foods are also bad for this condition.
Too much spice can damage the valve that keeps the acid locked up in the stomach.
Fruits that are high in acid are also something that you need to avoid.
The last thing you want is to add more acid into your stomach.
So keep away from grapefruit, tomatoes, oranges, lemons, and limes.
It used to be thought that dairy foods like milk, cheese, and yoghurt were good for heartburn.
However it is now known that most dairy foods can ease acid problems for a short period, but the fat that they contain end up making up even more acid.
It is not only heartburn foods to avoid you need to focus on, what you drink can also play a role.
I have mentioned coffee already.
Like the fruits, try not to drink citrus fruit juices.
Also alcohol can cause acid issues.
So avoiding alcohol is probably a good idea.
Now this one is not only bad for heartburn, but causes a lot of other problems.
White sugar is extremely acidic, and unfortunately comes in a lot of foods that we eat today.
Your focus needs to be not just the bad foods.
There are plenty of foods that can help with acid problems.
The chances are that your body is an acidic state.
This is not natural for your body.
You need to get your body into an alkaline state, which is far more healthy.
You can do this by drastically increasing your intake of alkaline foods.
What are alkaline foods? Well they are in general fresh vegetables.
Carrots, sprouts, dark cabbage, spinach, and so on.
Not only will this get your body to be more alkaline, it will also help to decrease acid.
Know you know which heartburn foods to avoid, are you going to take steps to rid yourself of acid problems?
