Start Your Online Business and Don"t Sweat the Big Stuff

When you start out building an online business as someone who knows nothing about it, it all sounds so easy. So many websites offering opportunities. However many of these sites forget to tell you about the actual work you'll be doing. You build a website (or maybe not depending on the opportunity), you definitely build an email list, you have to worry about how your going to get traffic, and a slew of other things. But then you get some e-books about traffic and list building and it all sounds great, except then everything sounds so big and grand.

This is when I got discouraged. How am I supposed to build a site that has search engine optimization in mind and write articles that contain a certain amount of keywords and have valuable enough content for my online business? Then one day I just went for it. And that my friends is just what you have to do.

You really don't have to be a great writer or be an html programmer to have an online business, you just have to do it. Start writing articles if your article marketing, start building your contact list if your social networking, and just make a website. Use a what-you-see-is-what-you-get website programmer. You can always improve these things, but you have to have something to start with.

There's a lot of big talk in online business. Your squeeze page has to have an attention capturing headline that describes your business because you have 3 seconds to capture the attention of your prospects. That right there sounds almost impossible, but my friends you just have to write a headline the best you can. As you keep going you'll go back and change it a hundred times anyway.

Basically the goal starting out with your online business is to get your funnel going. From squeeze page to final sale that's what you need up before you can start sending traffic. Though I like to think of it as a road from point A contact to final point B contact. There's going to be bumps when you start out. Its your job once you have everything up to iron these bumps out. Where are your prospects stopping? Do you get email addresses but then no one does anything? Time to make some rewrites to your emails. Do contacts spend time on your sales page but ultimately never buy? Time to rewrite some sales copy.

I've often thought how easy it would be to run a business. You just change what needs to be changed to make a profit. Its true of online business as well. But of course the true hard part is starting. You just need to get something up. You can always make changes later. Take everything you learn from e-books and put it kind of in the back of your mind. Don't fret because your website doesn't have 15 solid keywords per page and your article isn't going to win a pulitzer. It doesn't take being perfect to create an online business, it just takes the initiative to do it and the persistence to keep fixing it up til it works.
